Who were the crusaders and why did they fight?

The Crusaders were soldiers who were very religious. Well they weren't all soldiers, some were Monk-knights, children or knights. Most Christians fought because the church promised that anyone who died in the crusades would go straight to heaven and avoid the horrors of hell.

There were also rights for the crusaders while they were away:
  • They're houses were protected.
  • Crusaders paid no taxes.
  • Crusader's depts didn't need to be paid.
